Life’s On the Line Lyrics – QUESE

Singer: QUESE
Title: Life’s On the Line

And back in the jungle when the natives got restless
They would call it gorilla attack
And they would never describe
That the folks finally got wise

And decided that they would fight back, fight back, fight back fight back…
We tired man
Tired of being sick and tired
Uh

Cops is shooting us
Jails recruiting us
Sometimes i feel like i’m in
The land of lucifer so

I pray to god to
Cover us under the blood of jesus
Cause the way this country treats us is so egregious
And i need all the help i can get when battling this opprеssion

Feel like they wanna force my pеople to a deep depression
Dead bodies of color on the news to teach us a lesson
And yet they want us to bottle up all of this aggression
I’m stressing

Contemplating on a new smith and wesson
Cause bullets to the back is the way they like to send a message
So i must reciprocate it
Don’t give a f#ck if i’m vilified for this mindset

This is something they instigated and started
Way back when they shackled us and departed
From the western shores of africa, packed us up like some sardines
Soul surfing over bones of the unwilling, screaming gnarly

And to think this a policemen’s favorite story
Will i ever be safe
Nah
This sh#t was built on our backs

Yet and still we constantly get attacked
Damn
I’ve come to terms with the fact
That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man

Yeah
That’s why i gotta stay strapped fam
We keep dying so now it’s time to fight back
Man ohh

Cause they’ll never understand
That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man
Uh, yeah
As a black man

I was taught that it was ok to follow my dreams and
Be able to get to the money through many streams as
Long as i stay off of the radar of the police
But it seems like that’s impossible

When they focused on stopping you from progressing into your next phase of life
Because the color of your skin that’s just they way of life
Cause the people they represent resent us because they can’t be us
All lives matter don’t see color now they can’t see us

But get upset because they can’t flee us
Man yall be killing me
All we wanted was peace and tranquility
But i guess our presence just a threat your comfortability

So now i’m gaining clarity
I realize that your mere presence is a threat to the prosperity
Of me and my people
So it’s time to get even

Don’t care to be equal
We want liberation
And only then we could
Bring in the good

And get rid of the evil
Yeah yeah
This sh#t was built on our backs
Yet and still we constantly get attacked

Damn
I’ve come to terms with the fact
That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man
Yeah

That’s why i gotta stay strapped fam
We keep dying so now it’s time to fight back
Man ohh
Cause they’ll never understand

That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man
Truth of the matter is
We tired of being exemplified
As helpless on the news while they bombard us with lies

Of us, being the sole orchestrators of our demise
When in fact they kill us for sport
Like our soul is a prize
The tree of our maltreatment is compartmentalized

Into genocide, poverty, and the stripping of pride
To coincide with the opportunities that we’re deprived of
Leaving a large chunk of us
Institutionalized

Cause they left us no other choice
But to try to survive by any means
Get out of jail
Now you can’t vote against

The very things that’s detrimental to us as a whole
That’s why when it comes to polls it seems like we all missed a deadline
Systematic slyness leaves us victim to a redline
They use the census and the map to say who and who not to fund

Lack of resources makes for unequal health and academic experiences
sh#t they done took the cake and gave us crumbs
Plus they use the same maps to decide on which neighborhoods to deploy them boys
Go ahead officer go and have yo fun

All that built up hate and animosity towards my people leads you to let off steam from the barrel of yo gun
Y’all provoke us
Choke us
Maim us

Frame us
Destroy our communities then you blame us
Slave patrol so heinous
Soldiers of a system made to control us

We’ll see if y’all standing when the revolution is over
And we just getting started
This sh#t was built on our backs
Yet and still we constantly get attacked

Damn
I’ve come to terms with the fact
That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man
Yeah

That’s why i gotta stay strapped fam
We keep dying so now it’s time to fight back
Man ohh
Cause they’ll never understand

That my life’s on the line all the time as a black man
…and i told the others that
When i see the film
I don’t get that impression, i didn’t hear the the hate that everyone else says he was doing

Was i not listening correctly or uh…
Well, you know he would illustrate it this way…
Is is the sheep preaching hate when he says “i’m not gonna let the wolf eat me anymore. if the wolf comes in here…next time he comes in here i’ll do whatever i have to do to keep him off my back.” is the sheep violent or is the wolf the violent one? he wasn’t teaching hate he was teaching common sense. you know somebody’s knocking you over the head stop em. do whatever you have to do to stop em. you know, the the ones that were knocking him over the head were afraid of the fact that he might swing back so they said “nah he’s teaching hate. he’s violent.”
