И в панике я бросился бежать к горе!
Струи огня вокруг меня били все сильней!
Повсюду был горячий дым, щипал глаза
Но он же от змеиных глаз меня спасал!
И тут же вверх по горе взбежал, а змей меня не видел
И вскоре оказался на вершине
Высоко, вниз упасть легко… Змей кружил чуть ниже, был недалеко…
Я с криком: «Была, не была», ему на спину прыгнул!
Змей взвился подо мной и завопил истошно!
Яростно сам не свой брыкался суматошно!
Бешено я дышал, вцепившись мертвой хваткой
Вся моя душа сидела где-то в пятках!
Выдохнув, я достал своей меч из ножен резко, –
Что же, змея, финал подходит нашей пьеске!
Змей закричал опять, предчувствуя кончину!
Я опустил свой меч на шею животине!
Змей полетел к земле
С башкой, висящей на сопле…
Радуйтесь, люди, вот и нашелся тот, кто
Змеюку победил!
Еду домой я, встречайте, как подобает
Мастера добрых сил!
Но лишь заехал я в село
«Ты что натворил, урод?!
Страшный нас ждет конец!»
Толкнул я его: «Не порти, праздник, глупец!»
Нет, не потревожит больше нас змея
Безголовой ее оставил я!
Вся деревня веселится вновь
Океанами течет вино!
Но вдруг увидел я
На горизонте языки огня!
Под девичий дикий вой
С двойною головой
Летел к нам змей стрелой!..
